Doctor Who: Corey Taylor is a joy to watch in this behind the scenes video

Our random YouTube recommendation today is a clip of Slipknot singer Corey Taylor fanboying on the set of Doctor Who. And it is glorious.

If there’s anything that’s always guaranteed to put a smile on my face, it’s a little video from 2015. It’s a behind the scenes video for Before the Flood. But this isn’t a general making-of video. Oh no. This is something much more joyous to see.

Simply put, it’s Corey Taylor being a complete and utter fanboy. Yes, that Corey Taylor, from the bands Slipknot and Stone Sour.

In case you didn’t know, for Before the Flood, Corey got to record his scream for the monster of that story, the Fisher King. He didn’t actually voice the creature, but if you listen carefully, you can definitely hear Taylor’s distinctive roar.

Why this video is so awesome

I love my rock music almost as much as my geeky stuff. So when a world famous rockstar starts massively geeking out about the TARDIS, I’ve gotta admit, that’s always cool to see.

But it’s also more than that. Generally speaking, us fans can be very easily critical. Sometimes, if something doesn’t quite match our expectations, it can be easy to forget why our favorite show is so important to us.

So it’s nice to watch something where someone just has a completely shameless and joyful reaction to Doctor Who, as Corey Taylor does in the above video. He’s like a big kid, and his enthusiasm is just incredibly infectious to see.

His huge smile at visiting the TARDIS set is especially awesome. He mentions watching Tom Baker’s Doctor as a kid, and that definitely makes a lot of sense. If you’re a fan of Doctor Who as a kid, then most likely, you’re going to be a fan for life. (This was certainly true in this writer’s case.)

So if you’ve had a bad day and need an instant smile on your face, just watch the above clip and see Corey Taylor act so incredibly happy at being on the set of Doctor Who. It really is something special to see.
