Daniel Radcliffe: Harry Potter will be rebooted eventually
Daniel Radcliffe, aka, Harry Potter, aka the Boy Who Lived, aka a farting corpse that one time, believes J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter story will be retold at some point. Whether that means film, television, or something else, he’s not sure, but it’s definitely coming. “I’m sure there will be some other version of it,” he said. “I know I’m not the last Harry Potter I’m gonna see in my lifetime – we’ve already got a few more.”
Radcliffe is referring to stage actors Jamie Parker and Gareth Reeves, who have played the role in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. We’ll probably be getting a film version of that at some point, but Radcliffe thinks the original movies will one day be revisited as well:
"It will be interesting to see how long those films stay… it feels like there’s a sacredness around them at the moment, but that’ll go, the shine will wear off at some point. It’ll be interesting if they reboot them and just do the films again or do a series; I’m fascinated to watch."
With all the money Harry Potter earns to this day, I agree with Radcliffe that a reboot is bound to happen sooner or later. A longform TV show might work…

As for Radcliffe, at the moment, he’s out there promoting his new TBS show Miracle Workers, where he plays an angel that answers prayers for a weird hippy version of God played by Steve Buscemi. Count me in.
Would he ever be up for joining another big, Harry Potter-esque franchise? “Any project that the script is good for, I would be into,” he said. “I can completely understand why some directors would be hesitant about putting me into a franchise because I have a lot of baggage from another franchise, so I can see why that would make people not want to do that necessarily. But I would be very happy to.”
One interesting rumor that got started recently was that Radcliffe wants to play Wolverine, now that Marvel is looking to recast Hugh Jackman. Naturally, the internet jumped all over that, and it wasn’t long before we had an artist’s rendition of what it would look like:
The rumor got started with a joke Radcliffe made during an interview with Wired, but as he explained to IGN, there’s nothing to it:
"This is what happens when you make jokes. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just start casting yourself in things by just saying them in interviews? So I guess people have been asking something about me and Wolverine, and I made a joke about [playing] Wolverine after being in a hot wash, like I’d been shrunk in a hot wash, and the internet seems to think that I was putting that out there on my dream board cosmic ordering system."
Radcliffe is, however, open to doing the Tiny Wolverine Show if asked. “If some super talented writer wants to write Baby Wolf and turn it into a massive franchise, I’m in.”
If I can nerd out here for a second, in the comics, Wolverine is supposed to be 5’3”. At a full foot taller than that, it’s Hugh Jackman who’s off. I know Radcliffe is joking about playing a tiny Wolverine above, but at 5’5”, he’s actually much closer to the character as originally conceived. So maybe the idea isn’t that crazy…?
