Breaking Bad movie coming to Netflix and AMC
We’ve known for some time now that Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan was making a Breaking Bad movie. And while the storyline has is shrouded in secrecy, Deadline is reporting that the movie will air on both Netflix and AMC, with the streaming giant likely getting exclusivity for a while.

Netflix and AMC have a pretty close relationship. In fact, after accepting Breaking Bad’s Emmy for Best Drama in 2013, Gilligan credited Netflix with the shows success. “Television has changed a lot in six years [since Breaking Bad premiered],” he told reporters. “I’m no expert on the sociological elements of it, but I’ve got to think a big part of what has changed is streaming video on demand, particularly with operations like Netflix, iTunes and Amazon Prime.”
"I think Netflix kept us on the air. Not only are we standing up here [with the Emmy], I don’t think our show would have even lasted beyond season two. … It’s a new era in television, and we’ve been very fortunate to reap the benefits."
According to the Albuquerque Journal, the film (Breaking Badder? Breaking Worse?) will follow “the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.” It sounds like we’ll be following Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), last seen driving like a bat out of hell after Walter White (Bryan Cranston) killed a bunch of white supremacists who were imprisoning Jesse and forcing him to make high-quality meth. We’re rooting for you, Jesse.
Gilligan will direct the movie, of course. Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, both of whom have worked with Gilligan on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, are on board as producers. We’re not sure if Cranston will return as Walter White — his character’s end was, at best, ambiguous — but the actor has confirmed that he’s at least seen the script, so maybe…?
