Gwyneth Paltrow will bid farewell to the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, per a recent interview with Variety. Her days of playing Ironman’s significant other, Pepper Potts, have come to an end, which raises questions about the future of other pivotal characters in the franchise. Back in October, Chris Evans officially hung up the Captain America shield, saying that Endgame would be his last hurrah. It’ll be interesting to see who follows in his and Paltrow’s footsteps. (Please, don’t kill Ironman!)

While talking to Variety, Gwyneth Paltrow said that she is “a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point.” We beg to differ but you do you. She first appeared in 2008’s Iron Man, which just so happens to be the first MCU movie ever, after director Jon Favreau, a friend, convinced her to come aboard.

So we shouldn’t expect to see Paltrow headline any forthcoming MCU films, although this doesn’t mean it’s goodbye forever. Paltrow said that if she was asked to come back for a cameo or flashback scene, she will always be there to do it.

With the 91st Academy Awards coming up later this week, Gwyneth Paltrow reminisced about winning the Oscar for Best Actress back in 1999 for Shakespeare in Love. “I think that the movies and the business around them have changed so much in the last 20 years,” she said. “I don’t think any of the movies I’m known for would get made today.”

This year’s Academy Awards are gearing up to be a different sort of show, what with Black Panther nominated for Best Picture. If it wins, it’ll be the first superhero film to have the honor, and Paltrow isn’t opposed to it walking away with the statue.

"So if the vernacular in film is superhero movies and they’re great movies, then I guess why not, right? I loved ‘Black Panther.’ I thought it was a really powerful movie and culturally very important. So that’s great that it was nominated. I mean that’s so cool."

Cool, indeed.
