Disney is launching its own streaming service, Disney+, later this year. To make sure you subscribe, it’s bringing out the big guns: live-action Star Wars series, one called The Mandalorian starring Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal (it just wrapped production on its first season, FYI) and another revolving around Diego Luna’s character from Rogue One, Cassian Andor.
According to website HN Entertainment, which apparently got its hands on “a list of potential Star Wars shows that could be put into development,” Disney is mulling a few new shows set in a galaxy far, far away. Time to swim in the warm waters of total unverified rumor.

According to HN, the Mouse is mulling over five potential ideas, including series about the adventures of young Princess Leia, First Order chrome-dome Captain Phasma (played by Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie), the mysterious Knights of Ren, Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), and the Sith Lord Darth Bane.
Adding to the fun, StarWarsNewsNet reports that an Obi-Wan Kenobi story is also being considered, because it’s not a real rumor unless he pops up somewhere. Naturally, it would star Ewan McGregor reprising his role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy, and would be more of a one-off mini-series of six episodes.
Out all those ideas, a Darth Bane series interests me most. If you’re unfamiliar, he’s the Sith Lord who created the Rule of Two: “Two there should be. No more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it.” Darth Bane came along during the Old Republic era, when Sith and Jedi warred with each other for control of the galaxy. Bane saw how the power struggle within the Sith Empire destroyed, so he eradicated every living Sith, took on an apprentice, and the rest is (fake) history.
The story of Darth Bane is chronicled in a book trilogy by author Drew Karpyshyn, but when Disney acquired Lucasfilm is 2012, it relegated all three books — Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, Darth Bane: Rule of Two, and Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil — to the Legends category, meaning it’s no longer official canon. But then Disney began working parts of that story into shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, so…I guess it’s canon now?
