There’s a third Walking Dead show on the way

The Walking Dead has had an interesting couple of years, going through massive changes pretty quickly. Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) left, Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene) is leaving, and now Danai Gurira is on her way out after one more season. Showrunners have also changed, which has done more good than bad for the series, but does that matter when ratings keep dropping?

And this rollercoaster ride seems far from over. The spinoff show Fear the Walking Dead continues. The character of Rick Grimes will live on in feature-length films on AMC. Along with that, The Walking Dead universe will expand through additional shows, video games, and the like. Whether this is AMC’s attempt to bring back the fans it’s lost or to give the series a complete makeover, I’m not sure. They are moving ahead, though, and just announced that a new spinoff series is in the works, per The Wrap.

AMC’s chief operating officer, Ed Carroll, relayed this info during the network’s 2018 fourth quarter conference call.

"We’re not yet at a stage where we’ll be announcing its plans to premiere. But we have hired creative people that have pitched story outlines. We feel very good about the development of that series."

Variety had more of the call. “here’s a healthy appetite for it,” Carroll said. Is there, though…?

Is anyone else wondering where this series’ story could go? They’ve explored the thick of the zombie apocalypse with The Walking Dead and the beginning with Fear the Walking Dead, so…after the zombie apocalypse? I’m curious, if nothing else.
