Five best and worst moments from the season 8 trailer

FLEA BOTTOM BROWN ONE: Cersei is smug, smug smug.

With the Golden Company on the way, Cersei thinks she’s outplayed everyone else in the great game. She is smug, smug, smug. That self-satisfied smile totally overwhelms the shot of her weeping into her wine later, because the woman has taught herself to regret nothing. Or has she?

I kinda wish we’d seen her experience more moments of doubt or fear, unlikely as that is for a megalomaniac. The trailer seems to set Cersei up as the loose-cannon nemesis who brazenly gets her forces sandwiched and overextended, although I’m sure she’ll manage to get a lot of good people killed before she goes down. Smug!

Bonus Valyrian Steel Moment: Jon and Dany with the dragons because dammit, maybe you can’t get enough dragons.

Bonus Flea Bottom Brown moment: For crying out loud, Starks, don’t hide in the crypts! They’re full of dead people!

Wrap it Up and put a Bloody Bow on it: Overall, this was a fine appetizer for the final season; it scores high on atmospherics, scope and mystery, but I can’t help feeling like I saw a skeleton run past in the dark. It spooked, but it would have had more impact if I’d seen a little more meat on the bones.
