A much-needed Game of Thrones refresher ahead of season 8

Ser Jorah Mormont
Lord Friendzone er
Jorah the Andal nearly meets his end right at the beginning of season 7, when we find him at the Citadel riddled with greyscale. Happily, Sam Tarly is able to cure him, whereupon he makes a beeline for his Dragon Queen. That’s where he is at the end of the season, traveling north with her to Winterfell. Let’s hope he’s sleeping far away from Dany’s room.
Anyway, we know Jorah will be at Dany’s side when she arrives at the Stark stronghold. Check him out in the background below:
Also, if you take a close look at the season 8 trailer, it looks like Jorah will come into possession of Heartsbane, the Valyrian steel sword of the Tarly family. We’re guessing Sam, who’s tight with Jorah after what they went through at the Citadel, gives it to him after his arrival at Winterfell. After all, Jorah can make better use of it than him.
That kind of ties off a loop that Jon Snow opened when he and ventured ventured beyond the Wall to capture a wight. Jon is willing to give Jorah Longclaw, a Valyrian steel sword originally gifted to Jon by Jorah’s father, Jeor Mormont. But Jorah asks Jon to keep it, saying he’s not worthy of having it. Oh, Jorah; you are worth it, and Heartsbane is the proof.
The sword stuff is nice, but really what we’re wondering is how Jorah will react to Jon and Dany’s new relationship. At this point he’s got to know he doesn’t have a chance with her…right?
