A much-needed Game of Thrones refresher ahead of season 8

Beric had a tumultuous journey in season 7, traveling from the Riverlands to Eastwatch to the wilds beyond the Wall. In the final moments of the season 7 finale, we see Beric trying to find stable ground as the Night King blasts through the Wall using Viserion’s icy zombie breath. In the time since, fans have wondered if Beric survived this destruction, but the season 8 trailer shows him alive and well…or at least, he’s not dead. It’s complicated with Beric.

Presumably, Beric and Tormund are making their way along the Wall to Castle Black and then on to Winterfell, hoping to warn everyone of the coming danger. While Beric has survived death many times before, Thoros of Myr is no longer alive to resurrect him should the worst happen, so he’s more vulnerable than he’s been in a long while. Let’s hope he stays in one piece. And if not, there’s always Melisandre, right?
