A much-needed Game of Thrones refresher ahead of season 8

Missandei

Ever since Daenerys freed Missandei from slavery in season 3, she has been by the Mother of Dragons’ side. She’s translated for Daenerys on Essos and Westeros, and announced her long string of titles to everyone from the supplicants of Meereen to the King in the North on Dragonstone.

Missandei’s loyalty is not in question, and we fully expect her to be alongside her queen at Winterfell in season 8, doing what she can to fight the army of the dead. Heck, she was probably in the next cabin over when Dany and Jon were getting better acquainted on that boat. Missandei is ride or die all the way.

Missandei’s other big plotline involves her evolving relationship with Grey Worm. Both of these characters had their humanity stripped from them by slavery, and are rediscovering it in each other. Their relationship, as unlikely as it is, has grown into something tender and beautiful, and while it would be just like Game of Thrones to uproot that love when it was in its fullest bloom, we’re hoping these two beat the odds.
