What Zack Snyder’s 2009 Watchmen movie got right (and wrong)

1. Run Time

Moore’s original series spanned 12 issues. If a movie adaptation is going to do it justice, it needs a long runtime, and a 162 minutes, Snyder’s Watchmen movie had that. 

While some fans complained about the length, in my opinion, it was necessary to do the source material justice.

HBO’s new series is not a strict adaptation of Moore’s original work, but rather a sequel of sorts set years after the end of Moore’s story. Either way, with seasons of television to work with, HBO and showrunner Damon Lindeloff should be able to explore the world and the characters in much greater depth.
