Game of Thrones Madness, Round 2—Vote your favorite characters into the Sweet 16!
By Corey Smith
Well how much fun was that? The first round of our March Madness style Game of Thrones tournament is officially in the books, but there’s no rest for the weary, as our second round kicks off today! Before we jump to those matchups, let’s take a look back at round 1.
Check out Game of Thrones swag at Entertainment Earth.
Easily the biggest upset of round 1 was #1 seed Cersei Lannister going down to #16 seed Jaqen H’ghar. Could we be looking at some foreshadowing for season 8? Elsewhere, Hot Pie also swung a mighty upset, taking out the King of Grammar himself, Stannis Baratheon. That’s right, Stannis had fewer votes. In terms of the closest matchup, and also a monumental upset if you ask me, Theon Greyjoy lost out to Maester Luwin by just 3 votes! Bring on round two!
Heading into the second round, we’ve got some juicy showdowns on tap. Catelyn Stark is up against her own son Robb. We’ve also got the battles of the exes, with Jon Snow is up against Daenerys former flame, Daario Naharis, while Dany herself takes on Ygritte. Oh how much money I would have paid to see those confrontations on screen!
Voting for the second round lasts through the weekend, running from today until Sunday evening at 10:00 p.m. CST. So get those votes in, rally friends, and remember: vote using ANY criteria you like. These are not hypothetical trials by combat, this is about choosing your favorites!
