10. The Night King brings down the Wall

The Wall has stood strong and tall since the start of Game of Thrones, and for several thousand years before. If the members of the Night’s Watch aren’t enough to protect the realm from the horrors that lie beyond, the magic build into the foundations would. Sure, over the seasons, some characters made their way under or over it, but the thought of anyone destroying it was laughable.

That’s why the Wall collapsing at the end of season 7 is such a huge moment for the show. It marks a new era for Westeros, and underlines the fact that no one is safe. I mean, they weren’t safe before, but adding an undead dragon and tens of thousands of zombies rather takes things to a new level. After all, if the Night King can rip down an ancient and powerful edifice like the Wall, it shouldn’t be too difficult for him to leave Winterfell—and the rest of the Seven Kingdoms—in ruins.
