Who will sit on the Iron Throne?

For seven seasons, we’ve watched on person after another sit the Iron Throne, but none of them have really ever been worthy of ruling the continent. Meanwhile, everyone from Daenerys to Littlefinger to Euron Greyjoy have plotted and schemed to be the next in line. With the final season on the horizon, it’s time to settle this question for good: who will end up on the Iron Throne?

Cersei did an unexpectedly good job of holding the throne throughout season 7, so we can’t write her off completely, even with a scheming Euron by her side eager to take it for himself. Jon and Dany have a large combined army, plus dragons, but that pesky Night King guy has to be dealt with first. Speaking of, could the Night King be the one who ends up on the throne? Or might it be a left field candidate like Tyrion or Sansa?

OR, will the Iron Throne prove to be the ultimate red herring? Daenerys has promised to “break the wheel” and the Night King wants to obliterate all life; is there room for an Iron Throne in those futures? Personally, I don’t see the end result of all this upheaval being another round of musical chairs. The music has to stop sometime, and that time is season 8.
