Will we see Ghost or Nymeria again?

We will allow that the ultimate fates of the direwolves Ghost and Nymeria probably aren’t all that important to the big picture, but damnit, you can’t introduce cute little killer puppies in the series premiere and then have them grow alongside our favorite characters and not expect us to care. This is on you Game of Thrones.

Anyways, in addition to our love of the fluffy killing machines, there are a few other reasons we need to see Nymeria and Ghost once again. The direwolf is the sigil of House Stark, and these direwolves are likewise symbolic of their owners, former and current. Each time a direwolf dies, it’s coincided with a blow to House Stark. We need to know they’re safe.

But let’s get concrete. When the Night King and his army arrive at Winterfell, our heroes will need all the help they can get. We’ve seen the direwolves be brutally effective in combat, so having Ghost on the front lines can only help the living’s chances. And remember that the last time we saw Nymeria she was at the head of a whole wolf pack. If she and her followers decided to fight alongside Arya, it would be a huge boon to everyone with warm blood in their veins, and could prove the difference between life and death for many a beloved character.
