Marvel had fans around the world rushing to their computers and whipping out their phones when it dropped the final trailer for Avengers: Endgame. The tagline? “Tickets now available.” Within seconds, fans flocked to theatre websites to secure their ticket for the most highly-anticipated movie of the year, and maybe of our lifetime (or so it feels). Deadline reported that within six hours, Avengers: Endgame broke Fandango’s record for first-day ticket sales, officially surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It comes as no surprise that Fandango’s top five movies are all Disney movies (counting Marvel and Lucasfilm), and something tells me this is going to be the case until the end of time. All across the board, movie theatre companies reported ground-breaking sales. But more than tickets simply selling out, Avengers: Endgame actually broke the internet.

AMC Theatres, Harkins, Atom and Regal Cinemas all had issues maintaining the incredibly high volume of people trying to purchase tickets. Between the error messages, sales not going through, and the site simply not loading, pandemonium struck around the globe. Things settled down by the end of the day, although it’s likely not everyone walked away with a ticket.

Speaking of Avengers: Endgame, many have been wondering if Captain Marvel was the last we’d seen of Stan Lee popping up for a cameo. It’s going to be tough to watch future movies without his smiling face popping up where we least expect it. During a press event in India, director Joe Russo said that Lee’s final cameo will likely be Avengers: Endgame.

"I believe that his final cameo is in Endgame. I don’t remember if he was well enough to do the cameo in [Spider-Man: Far From Home] or not."

Avengers: Endgame lands in theaters on April 26. This is a going to be a busy month.
