Maisie Williams will be Sophie Turner’s maid of honor

The final season of Game of Thrones might be a bloodbath (at least if my dreams are correct), but in the real world, things are much happier. Sometime this summer, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) will marry fiancé Joe Jonas. Standing by her side at the altar, perhaps to ward off any Red Wedding-like shenanigans, will be her onscreen sister Maisie Williams (Arya). Turner broke the news when speaking Entertainment Tonight at the season 8 premiere party. “She’s my maid of honor! One of two.”

Turner and Williams became fast friends when they read together to get their parts on Thrones. Since then, they’ve done everything from getting matching tattoos to sharing magazine covers, so Williams being maid of honor is no surprise. But it’s still extremely endearing. Turner made the announcement after hearing Williams was looking for her own dress for the wedding. “I don’t know why she’s thinking about [what she’s wearing to my wedding]. I’m giving her the bridesmaid dress!”

Turner also gushed about her future husband. “It’s just like, the best support, the best person to calm me down and keep me calm, and if I end up crying, I have a shoulder to cry on,” she said. “So, it’s good. I’m so happy that he’s here.”

Of course, given the large contingent of Thrones co-stars that attended the wedding of Kit Harington (Jon Snow) to Rose Leslie (Ygritte), Williams isn’t likely to be the only Thrones cast member in attendance. We can’t wait for the pictures!

Speaking of Williams, here’s a stray interesting interview with Maisie Williams at the season 8 premiere event. How does she describe Arya’s journey in season 8? “Torn.”

Presumably she’ll be torn between the sense of normalcy she regains by being with her family and her lingering desire to complete her homicidal list. Game of Thrones season 8 premieres April 14.
