Jaime’s hooded cloak

Fitting right in with the rest of his family, Jaime Lannister wears black on his journey north, although his rationale is different from Cersei or Tyrion. Jaime’s arrival in Winterfell is a stealthy one, so he must wear a heavy, hooded cloak to disguise himself from anyone who might recognize the Kingslayer coming through the gates. (Unfortunately for Jaime, even the best disguise won’t keep him off the radar of the Three-Eyed Raven.)

Jaime’s subtle costume—and the entire nature of his arrival for that matter—shows his growth as a character. The first time fans see Jaime arriving in Winterfell, it’s as a golden lion clad in golden armor. He’s one of the most well-known knights in the realm, and his arrogance shines through. On his return trip, he couldn’t look more humble.

Jaime is no longer the cocky character who believes he can come out of any situation unscathed, and his clothing reflects that. It’ll be interesting to see how this “new” Jaime greets the boy he once pushed from one of the Broken Tower.
