Game of Thrones Episode 802—”This Episode Has No Name Either”—Preview

Game of Thrones returned to our lives last Sunday in “Winterfell,” bringing  joy and light to the hearts of millions. Although largely about setting the table for what’s to come, we also got some incredible reunions, Jon Snow learned about his true parentage, and much more. It was light on action, but Episode 802 (which also doesn’t have a name yet) looks to pick things up a bit! Watch the trailer below:

At first glance, it looks like Episode 2 will be more of the same, as our heroes try and sort out their differences as the army of the dead bears down on them. The preview quickly moves into battle mode though, as Tormund lays the bad news on Jon: the Night King will be there before the next sunrise. Will we get any skirmishes before the battle erupts in full?

Here’s the fact sheet for Episode 802, aka “This Episode Has No Name Either”:

  • Start Time: April 21, 2019, 9 p.m. EST
  • TV Info: HBO
  • Episode: Season 8, Episode 2, “This Episode Has No Name Either”
  • Writer: Bryan Cogman
  • Director: David Nutter
  • Run time: 58 minutes

From the looks of it, Jaime’s arrival could mess with the already fragile Winterfell ecosystem, but that’s to be expected when you killed the ruling queen’s father and pushed the Lady of Winterfell’s brother out a window. Whew boy, Jaime has a lot to answer for.

Jaime will also bring out heroes the news that Cersei will not be sending her army north to help. And if that wasn’t enough, he’ll probably inform Dany and company that Cersei sent for the Golden Company, which means there’s a new enemy to fight. That news should go over about as well as throwing gasoline on a burning fire.

Still, at some point, and perhaps only temporarily, judging by HBO’s promotional images, our heroes set aside their differences to face the more immediate threat. Their faces look grave, but we can take heart in this badass image of Lyanna Mormont suited up and ready for battle:

Perhaps our most burning question is how will Jon and Daenerys deal with the revelation of their shared heritage. Also, why does this picture Sam and Gilly cuddling on the bed with baby Sam fill me with dread? It reminds me of passengers holding to each as the Titanic goes down.

It’s doubtful things will be boring this Sunday. Hopefully the body count isn’t too high. This might be the last time we can say that this season. See you on the other side!
