Davos’ furs

If there’s one Southern character who’s looking like a true Northerner this season, it’s Ser Davos Seaworth. He’s come a long way since his days serving Stannis Baratheon on Dragonstone. He’s pulling off the dark cloaks and furs as well as any Northerner.

During “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” Davos has a conversation with some of the men about to fight against the army of the dead. They tell him that they aren’t soldiers with no experience on the battlefield. He responds that he’d barely seen a battlefield before the Battle of the Bastards, but he survived that ordeal. His comment is meant to be reassuring, but it also speaks to Davos’ adaptability, sartorial and otherwise.

Davos has found himself in the service of several monarchs since the beginning of Game of Thrones. He was once Stannis’ loyal advisor, then Jon Snow’s, and now he serves Daenerys Targaryen at Jon’s behest. Davos has also been dragged all over the Seven Kingdoms by the people he’s followed, and he always adjusts.

The ease with which Davos blends into the North also showcases his acceptance of his circumstances. Unlike many of the other characters, he never clung to his house, home, or former king. He joined up with the ruler he thought was doing the right thing, and because he’s always been sincere, he earns trust wherever he goes.
