And voila! The next shot is Daenerys with Drogon.

Fresh from killing the Night King, Arya goes right back to smooching Gendry. The girl deserves it.

Here are the mass funeral pyres we expected to see on the battlefield, with the surviving characters/commanders in attendance. From left to right, the torchbearers are Tormund, Jon, Sansa, (Alys Karstark?), Grey Worm and Daenerys. Also present are Yohn Royce, Davos Seaworth, Bran, Samwell Tarly, Ghost, Varys, Missandei and Tyrion.

Daenerys strides.

Dragons fly over sailing ships.

Euron kneels before a smiling Cersei. Is he asking for her hand in marriage, or just begging for more time between the royal sheets? Qyburn lurks in the background.

Sansa watches a dragon from the Winterfell ramparts. Bits of blue sky are visible.

A closeup of Sansa. What is she thinking now? You know she’s always looking out for the interests of the North.

Jon and Ser Davos ride out of Winterfell, with Gilly watching them go. With their fallen friends cared for and the army reassembled, are Daenerys’ forces already on the move southward?

The Targaryen fleet is at sea, all sails unfurled.

Daenerys, with Drogon at her side, sure looks happy and confident. She looks skyward, perhaps watching Jon riding Rhaegal. Is she sporting a new outfit, one better suited to southern climes?

The video dips to black and fades up to a shot of Cersei, flanked by the Mountain, Euron and Qyburn, standing in wait.

“We will rip her out, root and stem,” Daenerys states in the voiceover.

Cersei’s ready. She was born ready.

So there we have it. The dead shall be mourned and buried (or burned) and the two formidable queens Daenerys and Cersei marshal their armies for the last great battle. The oppressive darkness of the first three episodes seems to have eased up with the destruction of the Night King — there’s a lot more light, even if its overcast-grayish in some of these pictures.

The final chess pieces are being moved as we move closer to the conclusion of the great game.
