Who died in Game of Thrones “The Last of the Starks”?

Well, that wasn’t supposed to happen. Coming off a victory over the Night King and his army of the dead, Daenerys Targaryen and the combined armies of the Vale and the North overcame insurmountable odds and most of them lived to tell the tale. However, on Game of Thrones Episode 804, “The Last of the Starks,” we still lost two very important characters. Who were they? Let’s find out after the jump:

The first death came out of nowhere, as Rhaegal and Drogon were flying over Dragonstone. Daenerys astride Drogon was watching Rhaegal carefully, as he had been grievously injured in the battle against Viserion and the Night King. All of a sudden, a scorpion bolt pierced his chest, then as he was trying to regain his flight, one tore through his wing, and finally, a bolt caught him in the neck, killing him. Dany watched in horror as yet another one of her children sank was brought down and sank beneath the cold waves.

It was jarring, and I didn’t expect it…I mean, Jon was getting really good ant riding Rhaegal, and I’ve always had an attachment to the dragons and direwolves of the show, but with two episodes remaining, I supposed the battlefield needed to be evened out a bit. Rest in Peace, Rhaegal.

The other death was even more of a heart-wrenching moment that Rhaegal’s death. In all the commotion of Euron Greyjoy’s ships attacking the Targaryen fleet, Missandei was taken hostage. When Daenerys and her small army went to demand her back, Cersei commanded the Mountain to chop off her head.

It was a horrible moment for both Grey Worm and Daenerys, as they both loved her deeply. Here’s to hoping Grey Worm can one day take her ashes back to Naath where she wanted to return. At least, however, she did get one word to Dany and the army: “Dracarys,” meaning to me, she wants Dany to burn King’s Landing to the ground…and after tonight’s episode, I’m on board for that.
