Star Wars: Episode IX trailer goes 16-bit

The teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker is pretty cool. It’s got lightsabers, and Rey doing a neat flip, and Lando Calrissian, and the Emperor laughing for some reason. Would it still hold up if it were remade in the style of a 16-bit video game of the kind that would appear on the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis? YouTuber John Stratman is here to find out:

Ah, 16-bit video games, back when there wasn’t even enough processing power to properly round the letters. But let’s move on before I date myself.

I’m always amused when someone does a throwback project like this. And hey, as long as we’re talking about old games, did you hear that the remake of Final Fantasy VII that’s been in the works for approximately forever seems to finally be getting some traction?
