After all the heavy stuff going down on Game of Thrones these days, I think we can all use a good laugh, don’t you? Enter Amazon’s Good Omens, an adaptation of the 1990 novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, both titans in the world of genre fiction.

Good Omens tells the story of a centuries long friendship between the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale, and how they have to combine forces to prevent the apocalypse. Also, the four horsemen of the apocalypse are basically a biker gang, and there’s a witch-hunting “army” that consists of two idiots and their neighbor…it’s good fun, and the trailer looks like a blast.

The performances from the leads look especially solid. Good Omens is being adapted by Neil Gaiman, who promised Pratchett before his death in 2015 that he would make this project happen sooner of later. We’re glad it’s sooner.

The opening credits alone…I’ll definitely be sampling this when all six episodes of the miniseries drops later this month.

The A.V. Club got its hands on some new images from the show. Check them out below, starting with Michael Sheen as Aziraphale…

…and David Tennant as Crowley:

Dude’s bringing all the attitude.

A show-only addition is Jon Hamm as the impossibly smug archangel Gabriel, who’s mentioned in the book but doesn’t show up:

“Hey, it’s that guy” standby Michael McKean plays Sgt. Shadwell, leader of the two-person strong Witchfinder Army:

Jack Whitehall plays his hapless protege Newton Pulsifer…

…and Miranda Richardson his long-suffering spiritualist neighbor Madame Tracy:

And then there are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War, Famine, Pollution, and Death (Mireille Enos, Yusuf Gatewood, Lourdes Faberes, Mireille Enos, and the voice of Brian Cox):

You can watch all six episodes of Good Omens on Amazon on May 31. A little later, it’ll also be broadcast weekly on BBC Two.
