Euron’s battle attire

Remember that time we predicted that Euron’s overconfidence would probably get him killed? We’re happy to report it happened—even if it was during a ridiculous duel between him and Jaime Lannister. Cersei sure knows how to pick ’em, doesn’t she?

After Euron’s victorious ambush at Dragonstone, he still isn’t wearing any armor and his chest is still sticking out of loose clothing. This is a clear sign that Euron believed he’d be able to kill the last of Daenerys’ dragons, a belief that Daenerys quickly relieves him of when she burns the Iron Fleet in cinders. But the fact that Euron is strolling around in such flimsy clothing when there’s a war coming shows that he didn’t truly believe the fight would be so far in Daenerys’ favor. Apparently, he expected the scorpions to work a little better.

And even if Daenerys and her armies don’t actually kill Euron in the end, his cockiness leaves him vulnerable enough that Jaime Lannister is able to—outmatched and one-handed. Granted, Euron does’t even seem to care when Jaime puts his sword through him. According to actor Pilou Asbæk, taking Jaime down with him was a “happy ending” for Euron. So maybe it isn’t just overconfidence that has Euron running to meet soldiers and dragons only half-dressed. As he smiles up to the sky and exclaims, “I’m the man who killed Jaime Lannister,” fans have to wonder if there’s a little madness adding to his choice in attire as well.
