1. Westeros pitches the idea of a king or queen

Game of Thrones has always been about who will sit on the Iron Throne, but what if that doesn’t happen? It could very well be that our Mad Queen will die at the hands of either Jon or Arya (or someone we don’t even see coming) and Jon decides to give it all up to live North of the Wall. I’m pretty sure that move would satisfy those hurt by his disappointing farewell to Ghost.

So if neither Jon nor Dany, the two most obvious candidates for the throne, are no longer in contention, who sits on it? How will Westeros be ruled? As a democratic nation, of course! In Westeros’ history, when there is no clear ruler, a council forms to decide who should take the crown. But, maybe, just maybe, instead of picking someone to sit on the Iron Throne, they’ll choose to make it a democratic system, with each of the kingdoms sending a representative to rule as a council. Honestly, I can see Tyrion and Sansa pushing for that.

So what would this split look like? Here’s a look into Westeros’ possible future:

  • The North: Sansa Stark
  • The Stormlands: Gendry Baratheon
  • Dorne: Whoever the new prince is
  • The Iron Islands: Yara Greyjoy
  • The Riverlands: Edmure Tully
  • The Westerlands: Tyrion Lannister
  • The Reach: Samwell Tarly (That’s a no from me for Bronn)
  • The Vale: Robin Arryn (well, the system isn’t perfect)

Will the wheel be broken after all? We’ll find out soon!
