Kit Harington gets choked up when he reads “The Iron Throne”

Before the cast gathered to read through the final season as a group, some had read it on their own. Kit Harington (Jon Snow) hadn’t. He finds out things in real time, and when writer Bryan Cogman reads out the stage directions for the scene in “The Iron Throne” where Jon Snow kills Daenerys Targaryen, Harington’s reactions are real and raw. He did not see this coming and gets properly chocked up.

It’s hard to tell what’s best about that moment: seeing how much Harington is clearly invested in the show, or the reactions of his fellow cast members who had read ahead. Sophie Turner (Sansa) seems pretty amused. Emilia Clarke, meanwhile, gives him a full, “Yeah, I know, it’s major” sympathetic look from across the table:

Good lord, does she have an expressive face.

Harington also gets emotional on his last day. His last scene was the one where Jon Snow has a standoff with Grey Worm in King’s Landing, after Daenerys has destroyed the city but before Jon kills her. That was also Jacob Anderson’s (Grey Worm) and Liam Cunningham’s (Davos Seaworth) last day. “I love this show,” Harington says. “More than, I think, anything. It has never been a job for me. It’s been my life, and this will always be the greatest thing I will ever do and be a part of. And you have been my family. I love you. Thank you so much.”

It’s sweet to see how invested Harington is in the show.
