We get a little more insight into how Arya killed the Night King

Maybe the best single moment of Game of Thrones season 8 was when Arya Stark leaped out of the darkness in the Winterfell godswood to stab the Night King with her Dragonglass dagger, stopping him from eradicating humanity. Personally, I loved that twist, although some fans had problems with the particulars. For example: how did Arya get so much height on that flying leap?

To be clear, I really don’t think that’s important, but if you’re interested, during the table read, Cogman reveals that, in the script, it’s written that Arya “vaults off a pile of dead wights.” Feel free to take it under advisement.

Speaking of that scene, seeing it from a new angle takes away very little of its power. Obviously, watching this documentary is going to demystify the filming process a bit, but with the snow falling and the dim lighting from the fires, this still gave me chills:

Vladimir Furdik, who plays the Night King, emerges as yet another interesting figure. In addition to playing the King of Winter, he also works on the show’s fight choreography. It sounds like he had a difficult upbringing, growing up in the aftermath of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. “I think he’s angry,” he said of the Night King. I also loved watching him interact with fans in Seville. They all did the Night King’s signature move:

I suppose now is as good a time as any to remember that Game of Thrones fans are also, as it happens, the best.
