Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order looks like it gives the fans what they want

After a couple years of horrible press over its multiplayer-focused, financially predatory Star Wars video games, Electronic Arts is poised to have a hit with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a single-player experience set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

The Empire is ascendent. The Jedi have been wiped out. As Cal Kestis, a Jedi-in-training who survived the purge, it is your job to fight for freedom and to make EA all the money.

Ahead of this years Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3), the company has dropped an extended gameplay trailer. Check it out:

Wookies, giant spider aliens, wall-running, bullet laser time, baddies who yell melodramatic things like “I will make you hurt,” that bit where Cal uses the force to pull a guy towards him and then throws him in front of his own laser…yeah, this game is going to be a hit. And just what does the Empire want with tree sap, anyway?

Also, clock what those two poor Stormtroopers were saying moments before Cal chucked a light saber into their throats. “At least we have the high ground.” Silly Stormtroopers; everybody knows the high ground means nothing in Star Wars.

EA later released another, briefer trailer:

Jedi: Fallen Order is developed by Respawn Entertainment, the people behind the well-received Apex: Legends. At first glance, it looks like they’re giving the fans what they want.
