Alt Shift X

We’ll start the list out with the big dog: Alt-Shift-X. It should come as no surprise to anyone that shifty made the list. His creative visual mosaics and high production quality make him stand out from most other amateur content creators on YouTube. His droll sense of humor and tone also help to separate him from the “SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON” crowd that has overrun YouTube today.

But the thing I love most about his Game of Thrones videos is the research he puts in to find particular quotes or examples from both the books and the show to demonstrate his points or justify his theories. Granted, like most everyone’s theories about the show, hardly any of them pan out. That said, he still crafted some very compelling arguments. It really doesn’t get much better.

It’s a testament to his ability that Alt Shift X “only” has 1.1 million subscribers, but he has 60+ videos with more than 1 million views, including several with more than 3 million! His most popular video, with 6.5 million views, is focused on Valyrian Steel swords, and what possible impact they could have in the battle against the army of the dead:

His channel is a treasure trove of peak Game of Thrones fandom, and years down the line is destined to be looked at as almost a time capsule of what the world was like when Game of Thrones ruled the Earth.
