The cast and crew of Netflix’s medieval English drama The Last Kingdom are hard at work filming the show’s fourth season. But rather than cloak the shoot in a veil of secrecy, they’re happy to take us behind the scenes with a slew of on-set pictures. These are SPOILER-FREE, though, so feel free to enjoy!
First up, it appears we have a new romance on set. Or bromance, or whatever:
Taken by Arnas Fedaravicius (Sithric), that appears to be the oh-so-Christian Osferth (Ewan Mitchell) and the very Pagan Alexander Dreymon (Uhtred) taking in the view after what we imagine was a very hard day on set. And what a view it is.
Northern Ireland
Wessex never looked so good!
Not to be left out of the bro love, Dreymon posted a photo of himself and Mark Rowley (Finan) also taking in the view.
Where is poor Sithric? Probably taking the picture again. Whatever, I ship it.
Anyways, it’s not all budding romance. Elsewhere, the bruising Adrian Bouchet (Steapa) takes a moment to cool off between shooting what looks like a battle scene:

Finally, a pair of cast members have watched the first two episodes of season 4, and they’re teasing the hell out of them. First up is Magnus Bruun (Cnut):
I’ve just watched a lot of scenes and other bits and pieces from the first two episodes of season 4.

Let’s just say that #thelastkingdom is BACK IN THE GAME!
I’m tremendously proud of what we are doing this season and I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to. ⚔️🦊🛡 pic.twitter.com/0vJEnSriB5

We can’t wait to see it either, Magnus.
Next up, Uhtred’s treacherous uncle Aelfric (Joseph Millson) praises the new batch of episodes:
Might have seen large chunks of first two eps of @TheLastKingdom season 4 today. Sooooo goood. 🤩
— joseph millson (@josephmillson) July 1, 2019
We’ve known that Uhtred would head home to Bebbanburg at some point, and it looks like that point is soon.
The question now is: when do we get to see the final product ourselves? Destiny is all!
