Kanye West is building Star Wars houses for homeless people
By Ariba Bhuvad
Kanye West is helping the homeless by making houses inspired by Star Wars. If you’re like me, you want to know the details behind such a strange sentence, so we’ll do our best.
During an interview with Forbes, West revealed that he’s a big fan of Star Wars, and he’s decided to pay that forward. West is creating housing units for the homeless, but with a Star Wars twist. Basically, the units will follow the design of Luke Skywalker’s home on Tatooine, and will be made solely for low-income residents.
Wow, I’m not always sure how I feel about him, and this is a little odd, but overall this is a net good. Bravo, Kanye!
Not only is he making this happen, but West is also spearheading the construction efforts, leaving behind notes on what changes should be made or what could be improved. He really wants this to feel like home for the people that live there, and he’s willing to go the extra mile to ensure it.
I’m curious as to where these housing units will be located, and if he will try to expand the project across the country. He could be onto something here, and if all goes well, I can see this charitable project being big.
There are lots of questions still to answer. Will there be a waiting list? Is it a temporary stay or permanent? How big will the complex be? How many units? Just some food for thought as Mr. West does his thing.
This isn’t the first time West’s affection for Star Wars has shined through. In fact, Star Wars may be what brought him and his wife, Kim Kardashian, together. Apparently, back in 2004, Kardashian starred as Princess Leia in a pilot West created for Comedy Central called Alligator Boots. And there’s photo proof:
Since getting married, the couple has given back in many ways, supporting all kinds of organizations. But this is probably the most interesting.

In other Star Wars news, we got a teensy little tease about the upcoming Rise of Skywalker courtesy of Joonas Suotamo, who plays Chewbacca. (We miss you, Peter Mayhew!) IMDb posted a Twitter poll asking people what movie managed to shock and surprise them. Cue Suotamo:
All of your next movie, huh? Bring on December 20.
