Is Hopper actually dead?

You know what they say: If you don’t see a body, there’s a chance the character is still alive. This rule could certainly apply to Hopper. The last we see of the Hawkins chief of police, he’s standing on the wrong side of the glass when Joyce closes the gate and blows up pretty much everything surrounding it.

We’re meant to believe that Hopper was blown to smithereens as well, but when Joyce and Murray check the area afterward, it doesn’t look like there are any remains of their friend. And why leave something like that open-ended, especially when the show could have devastated fans even more with a funeral?

There’s also the post-credits scene to consider. We’ll dive more into it later, but the Russian soldiers reference one of their prisoners as “the American” — which is exactly what they call Hopper and Joyce during their altercations with the pair. Of course, the show could intentionally be misleading its viewers, but we won’t get our hopes up just yet.

All we’re saying is, it just wouldn’t be a season of Stranger Things without Hopper. And we definitely didn’t see a body.
