Outstanding Drama Series

Since season 5, Game of Thrones has always won for Outstanding Drama Series, and we don’t see that changing in season 8. Yes, that is even though season 8 had the worst critical reception of the series. Again, this is more of a momentum thing rather than an actual quality thing.

With the whole final-season boost also coming in to push Game of Thrones higher, it’s hard to see where Pose, Succession, or even Killing Eve break into the conversation and take it away. All of those shows have more seasons to win, and this category will be a lot more open next year (except for The Handmaid’s Tale coming back).

The Emmys air on September 22 this year, so there’s a lot of time for momentum to shift, conversations to start, and more. Keep an eye on all of these campaigns as they continue.
