“Wines of the Seven Kingdoms” celebration in Edinburgh features a giant map of Westeros
One can never get enough of Scottish Game of Thrones pop-up bars! That’s the forte of the Edinburgh-based events company Pop Up Geeks, which gained fame with their “Blood and Wine”-themed bar concept and wine tasting event last April.
They’re bringing the popular attraction back with another installment of their “Wines of the Seven Kingdoms” event. This time, guests will be able to wander across a giant 50-foot map of Westeros as they sample over 40 international wines.
Once again located at Edinburgh’s Hub on the Royal Mile, the Pop Up Geek’s “Wines of the Seven Kingdoms” celebration features wines are as similar as possible to the fictional libations described by George R. R. Martin in his A Song of Ice and Fire series as possible.
In an interview with The Edinburgh Evening News, Pop Up Geeks co-founder Linden Wilkinson talked about what’s on offer. “As well as the wines, we’ll have authentic medieval food options, our smiths will be on hand to arm you for the wars to come, and you’ll walk away with one of our Blood & Wine tasting glasses and a wax sealed tasting scroll.”
Above, locals party like the Dothraki at the May Day festival of Beltane. Here’s the description of the “Wines of the Seven Kingdoms” event per the Pop-up Geeks website:
"Lords and ladies of Edinburgh, gather your arms, saddle your horses and prepare for an epic journey from the Arid deserts of Dorne to the frozen wilds in The North and discover the wines of the Seven Kingdoms.A wine event like no other, our Maesters have painstakingly trawled though the pages of George R.R.Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire to bring the wines described in such vivid, delicious detail to life."
As the Pop Up Geeks suggest: “don’t miss your chance to drink and know things.”
