Yetide Badaki (Bilquis) teases American Gods season 3
By Ariba Bhuvad
American Gods is getting a third season, this time hopefully without any drama about changing showrunners and the like. This time around, it seems everyone is on board and super excited to continue the craziness that is American Gods, from new showrunner Charles Eglee (The Shield, Dexter) to cast members like Yetide Badaki, who plays the sensual goddess Bilquis.
During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Badaki spoke to TV Line about what we can expect for the third season, and how she saw her character’s action at the end of the tumultuous season 2. If you watched the finale, you saw Bilquis strip off all her clothes as the Old and New Gods prepared for war. As it ends up, that was Bedaki’s idea. “We’re seeing her dig deeper into remembered power and strength,” she explained. “I loved the fact that in a space that you see all of these gods preparing for war, and in essence armoring up, for her, she’s going to go fully, vulnerably as herself.”
Yas, queen, YAS! And so forth.

The American Gods season 2 finale left us with a ton of big revelations, namely that Shadow/Odin reveal! As for now, all we know is that all roads lead to a place called Lakeside. Badaki didn’t reveal many specifics, but did say we’ll be seeing “a familiar world but seeing some unfamiliar elements along the way.” I can roll with that.
