Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 3 will visit Hell, may be delayed

Alright, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fans, there’s some good news and some bad news when it comes to the next season. Let’s get through the bad news first, shall we?

Although October would be the most fitting month for the third part of the show to drop, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa put a bit of a damper on expectations when he spoke to The Wrap at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “I don’t think we’d be ready for Halloween,” he said. “I have no idea, not a clue. We are writing Episode 8, we are starting to shoot Episode 6, so we’re nearing the halfway mark. And that’s been going great, I’m really proud of those episodes, they’re really, really fun.”

For reference, Sabrina has 20 episodes per season, split into two parts that are then released a few months apart, so the delay makes sense.

And now for the good news, also courtesy of Aguirre-Sacasa:

"We’re going to Hell. It’s very fun. It’s very fun. It’s dangerous, but it’s really fun."

Going to Hell means that both Lilith and Nick can come back to the cast and have an impact on the story. However, being in hell means that there will probably be quite a few special and visual effects, which could lengthen production time.

Also, someone’s definition of “fun” is very weird, because we’re literally talking about hell here, but what do you expect from the guy behind this particular show?

In any case, Sabrina definitely won’t be receiving a welcome from the Dark Lord in Nick’s body, since she betrayed him. That’s probably where the “danger” comes from. However, she may have some help from the new Queen of Hell: Lilith. It was with Sabrina’s help that Lilith actually became Queen, after all.

But what happens if the Dark Lord is freed from Nick’s body? Well, that probably makes for a war in Hell that could spill over to the mortal world, which could very well be the second half of the season.
