It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…Superman on Twitter!

Superman himself has officially joined the Twitterverse, and it’s actually more exciting than I would have thought. There’s nothing like fictional characters having their own account and letting us feel like they live on in our worlds despite being completely unreal. It’s just fun, isn’t it?

Of course, this isn’t a new trend. Companies, brands, and television shows have been on Twitter for quite some time, tweeting as though they’re real people, interacting with the rabble. Batman actually got his own Twitter account some time back, although it’s turned pretty quickly into a list of ads for Batman comics and shows and action figures and such. But that won’t happen with Superman…right…?

It me?” Interesting. Doesn’t the dude work for The Daily Planet?

Superman’s second tweet was more meme-free:

Truer words have never been spoken. The Twitterverse has been known to get toxic every once in a while, and if there’s one shining beacon who can bring light to that potentially corner of the internet, it’s the Man of Tomorrow himself.

Given the fact that the Man of Steel now has his own Twitter account, fans aren’t wasting any time asking things of him:

Looks like Twitter Superman has his work cut out for him.
