Visit the set of The Expanse alongside the superfans who saved it from cancellation

The Expanse is the little sci-fi show that could. The series — a grounded story about life in the not-too-distant future, when there are political struggles between human beings living on Earth, Mars and the asteroid belt — is based on the novels by James S. A. Corey, which is actually a pen name for two guys: Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. It went strong for a few years on SyFy before getting cancelled, but the fans wouldn’t let that lie. They organized a campaign to find the show a new home, and in an era where networks and streamers and shipping giants are all eager for content, it worked.

Enter Amazon, which swooped in and brought the show back to life. There’s a fourth season coming in December and a fifth season already ordered for after that. To repay the fans who made it possible, Amazon invited a few of them to tour the set earlier this year, and recorded it all for posterity. Watch below as these Expanse superfans who meet the people who make the magic happen — not just stars but the costume designer, editor, prop master, and others — board the Rocinante, and even get into space suits!

“This is so cool!” I love how much the fans love this. And cast members Cas Anvar (Alex Kamal) and Dominique Tipper (Naomi Nagata) seem really sweet. “Okay, outfit!”
