5. Ciri meets the dryads
The shots of Ciri with the dryads seem like a pretty clear draw from the namesake story from the second Witcher book, Sword of Destiny. In this story, Ciri is taken in by the reclusive dryads of Brokilon forest. The dryads are a group shrouded in mystery—all women and mostly elves, they take in young girls who go astray near their forest and make them undergo a transformation by having them drink magical water that turns them into dryads in turn, making them a permanent part of their secretive community.
Brokilon is an island of mysticism amidst the squabbling kingdoms of the Northern Realms—so well defended that no monarch dares move against it. Which means that beneath the trees of Brokilon, the dryads’ arcane laws reign supreme, and any who challenge them do so at their own peril.
It’s worth noting that the trailer didn’t show us a ton of scenes from Brokilon. There’s really only this one shot of Ciri and the ones at 0:15. But considering that in the books this is the sequence where Geralt and Ciri meet, and where he discovers how deeply they have been linked by destiny — essentially, the event which begins a drastic and inevitable change in the witcher’s vagabond life — it could be a really powerful and mystical moment in the show.
