Domhnall Gleeson has played General Armitage Hux (yes, that’s his full name) for years now, ever since Star Wars: The Force Awakens kicked off the Star Wars prequel trilogy in 2015. In that movie, he famously Hitler-screamed at a gathered battalion of First Order Stormtroopers while Starkiller base destroyed several planets that were home to the leadership of the New Republic.

Then, in The Last Jedi, he was trolled by Resistance pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) before getting tossed around Kylo Ren, the new Supreme Leader of the First Order. Will Hux have a better time in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Speaking with Collider, Gleeson talked about his first reaction to reading the script for the upcoming Episode IX. “It was cool, it was a page-turner,” he said. “It was different than what I thought, and it was great.”

"It was exciting. And also you feel part of this tiny clob that gets to read these things ahead of other people and that feels great. I really did enjoy that, and I think it’s going to be cool."

While Gleeson doesn’t reveal any spoilers for The Rise of Skywalker, just knowing that a serious actor like himself thought the script was a “page-turner” gets me even more excited for the film. “I like being in good movies more than I like being in franchises or anything else,” Gleeson said. “So similarly to this, I’m just proud to have been part of something good, because often times it doesn’t work out so when it does, it feels great.”

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will mark the end of the nine-episode “Skywalker Saga” that began way back in 1977 with A New Hope. The movie hits theaters on December 20.
