Sounds like Amanda Seyfried passed on playing Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy

In today’s Hollywood, the cliche goes that you’re no one if you’re not playing a superhero (which means that Kit Harington is officially someone). Like it or not, superheroes are the hottest thing in movies right now, putting butts in seats and showering studio executives with money.
But despite how many superheroes are up on the screen nowadays, there aren’t enough to give jobs to every actor in Hollywood. (Not yet, anyway; we’ll see what happens with Phase 5.) Some actors who want to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can’t be, and some came close before backing out.
Case in point: while promoting her new film The Art of Racing in the Rain, Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia, Les Misérables) talked about a time she was offered a role as a superhero but turned it down…and we think we know what role she’s talking about:
"I turned down one [superhero role] once and they haven’t called back since. And it was a big’un. I don’t regret it because I didn’t want to be green for six months out of every year. [They] tell beautiful, beautiful stories through superheroes, and my daughter’s now really obsessed with superheroes now, and part of me wishes I’d done it, but the other part of me is like ‘I had a life to live’ and I don’t think I would’ve been happy."
“I didn’t want to be green for six months out of every year.” It’s not certain, but we’re betting Seyfried was offered the role of Gamora in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, a role that ended up going to Zoe Saldana.

Although it was probably hard to predict at the time, the Guardians franchise went on to huge success, with Gamora also appearing in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, two of the highest-grossing movies of all time. Of course, as Seyfried said, there’s more that goes into taking a role than how much exposure and money it’ll get you…but still, that’s a lot of exposure and money, even you do have to covered in green body paint.
And Gamora’s story is far from over. In fact, the character got a bit of a reset in Endgame, with her future uncertain. There are a lot of potential directions for her to take when Guardians of the Galaxy 3 finally hits theaters. Meanwhile, The Art of Racing in the Rain is out in theaters now.
