Magnus Bruun (Cnut) wraps on The Last Kingdom season 4
By Dan Selcke
The Last Kingdom is the best show not enough people are watching. Based on Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories, this Netflix drama tells the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg, a Saxon raised by Danes who must navigate a twisted political climate in 9th century England, helping to establish stability both within the nascent royal family and in the country as a whole. It is, to put it lightly, good watching.
There are a lot of other important characters on the show, including Cnut, a powerful Danish warlord and a “foster cousin” of sorts to Uhtred. Of late, we’ve been documenting the cast and crew as they shoot the fourth season, and it looks like things are starting to wind down, as actor Magnus Bruun, who plays Cnut, announces on Twitter that he’s wrapped filming:
The message sounds a little wistful, as though this is goodbye forever rather than goodbye for now. It’s not impossible that Cnut could die in season 4 — the show has killed off important characters before. But of course, Bruun isn’t giving anything away:
He’s also weighing in on whether that’s his real hair color and generally mixing it up with fans on Twitter. He’s a chatty Cnut.
We don’t have an exact release date yet, but expect The Last Kingdom season 4 to come along sometime in 2020, hopefully early in the year. In the meantime, we’re having a blast interviewing members of the cast!
