Caitriona Balfe teases a “really strong” season of Outlander, talks Adso the cat
By Ariba Bhuvad
Outlander fans are looking forward to meeting a new, young, adorable cast member in the upcoming fifth season…and also there’s a kitten. The show’s official account announced in May that the Fraser family was getting a fuzzy new friend: Adso the cat.
You don’t have to know about Adso’s role in the story to know that’s adorable.
speaking to Entertainment Tonight, star Caitriona Balfe (Clair Fraser) talked all about having the kitten on set.
"I mean he’s awesome! It does create a lot of distractions because we all just want to play with the cat instead of doing any work. […] He plays hard to get all the time, so it’s really quite embarrassing because it’s just Sam and I trying to get its attention and it’s like, ‘Whatever!’ He just wants to like find a spot in front of the fire and not play with us."
Sounds distracting but in the best way possible.

It looks Sam Heughan has been replaced as the cutest cast member from Outlander:
For those of you who haven’t read Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels and are hearing about Adso for the first time, please allow me enlighten you. In the fifth book, The Fiery Cross, Jamie Fraser finds the kitten while on the road and gifts it to his wife, Claire Fraser. And thus a legend is born.
“The season is really really good,” Balfe said. “Last season was really setting up the fact that the Frasers were in Fraser’s Ridge and that they were starting to settle.”
"This year is really about this family coming to terms with a lot of consequences of things that happened last season. But there’s a settled nature to it and I think it’s a really strong, strong season. We’re almost one which is crazy, but I think people are going to be really happy.”"
The addition of Adso should inevitably make the dark, gloomy moments of the show just a little bit brighter. This is Outlander we’re talking about, so chances are things will go south sooner or later. When they do, Adso will be there to comfort us.
