Explore Hogwarts with Insight Edition’s Harry Potter illustrated guide!
By Ariba Bhuvad
From Insight Editions, the folks who gave us The Photography of Game of Thrones and The Art of Game of Thrones, comes the next exciting illustrative adventure: Harry Potter: Exploring Hogwarts: An Illustrated Guide.
Whether or not you’re a Potterhead, this illustrated book will transport you to Hogwarts, the magical boarding school where Harry and crew grew from magical children to late-stage magical adolescents.
MuggleNet had the opportunity to look at the upcoming tome, and it’s safe to say they loved it. Based on their review, it sounds like fans and wizard virgins alike can enjoy this.
This book kickstarts a series that will explore iconic locations from the Harry Potter films, starting with Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and moving on from there. The book itself contains images from the movies, chronicling all the major locations and events that took place at the school. That includes the Forbidden Forest (eep, spiders!), the Quidditch pitch, the Great Hall, and many more. I’m hoping the book spotlights the Gryffindor common room and the Defense Against the Dark Arts or Potions classrooms!
The book starts off with a letter from Headmaster Albus Dumbledore explaining what the illustrative journey has in store for the reader. Side note: If you’ve been to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour in London, then this will complement all the neat things you learned there. There’s Potter trivia aplenty, much of which isn’t widely known. Exploring Hogwarts also features an illustrated version of the scribbled map author J.K. Rowling created for the first film, which is very cool.
Between images from the movies, trivia, and inside info about how sets, props, and costumes were designed, Harry Potter: Exploring Hogwarts: An Illustrated Guide looks like a solid purchase for any Potterhead. This one is definitely down for it.
