Filming on the third season of Starz’s American Gods chugs along. We’ve heard that the set has been largely drama-free, which is a good thing for a show that used to change showrunners as easily as mortal men change shirts. Oh, and shock-rocker Marylin Manson has joined the cast as Johan Wengren, the lead singer of the Viking death metal band. So things are looking up.

Now if only the show had the perfect spot to film some pivotal scenes from the book. Well, ask and ye shall receive, as Port Perry in Scugog, Ontario, Canada will serve as the town of Lakeside, per DurhamRegion.com.

In the books, Shadow (Ricky Whittle) travels to Lakeside at the behest of Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane) and stays there until summoned. At different times, Wednesday randomly shows up and demands Shadow accompany him across the United States in an attempt to recruit the Old Gods in their war against the New. Once each new mission is done, Mr. Wednesday returns Shadow back to the small, sleepy, snowy, weirdly prosperous little town.

The town is placid and picturesque, which in fiction means it harbors a dark secret. While there, Shadow meets a single mother, befriends her lonely son, and uncovers…well, let’s leave something for the season.

In addition to Whittle and McShane, cast members returning for season 3 include Emily Browning as Laura Moon, Crispin Glover as Mr. World, Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, and Peter Stormare as Czernobog, among others. No premiere date has been set, but production only began this month, so stay tuned.
