Adam Driver and Mark Hamill work together to find missing dog
By Corey Smith
Proving that social media is not all about negativity and that a Sith and a Jedi can work together, Adam Driver and Mark Hamill tracked down a lost dog.
Onscreen, Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker are the bitterest of enemies, a student and mentor with an uncrossable rift between them. But in real life, actors Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) are teaming up to return lost dogs to their owner…well, one dog.
The Hollywood Reporter details how Driver, who’s currently making a movie called Annette, sprang into action after hearing that director Leos Carax lost his 9-year-old dog Javelot. “Everyone was distraught,” Driver told THR. “I have a dog. And sets mold into family really quickly, and that extends to their family as well.” Driver recruited Hamill, who has over three million Twitter followers, to post a plea for help (Driver doesn’t have an account).
Hamill sent Driver’s video message, which included promises to put people who can help in the movie, and to give them chocolate, and to christen their children, or whatever. It was too good an offer to turn down. Driver shot the video in a park in Brussels, near where where Javelot was last seen before getting spooked by traffic and running off.
And after being viewed roughly 800,000 times, the video plea worked! Javelot was spotted at a nearby train station and returned safe and sound to Carax. Who says social media is all about memes and negativity?
There’s no word yet on what reward, if any, the good Samaritan was given, although I figure Driver and Carax’s gratitude was more than enough. And of course, Driver acknowledged Hamill’s role in the rescue. “Mark is a powerful, powerful guy.” We know, we watched you two fight in The Last Jedi.
