Harry Potter Instagram reveals interesting tidbit about Voldemort’s Horcruxes

Whether you’re a fan of the Harry Potter novels, movies, or both, you likely already know that every detail of the story matters — even the small and seemingly insignificant ones. That’s why diving back into the Wizarding World is such a joy. There’s always something new to discover when you’re trailing after Harry, Ron, and Hermione — even if it’s something small.

And thanks to the official Wizarding World Instagram, fans can add another fun fact about the Harry Potter films to their reservoir of Wizarding World knowledge: apparently, Voldemort’s robes changed each time one of his Horcruxes was destroyed.

In an Instagram post, wizardingworld wrote, “Did you know? In the Harry Potter films, Voldemort’s robes faded in colour every time a Horcrux was destroyed, to give the impression he was slowly fading away.”

Of course, this is something most viewers wouldn’t pick up on, even if they’ve seen the Harry Potter movies multiple times. And yet, it’s a testament to how much care went into the costume design for Deathly Hallows that this was included. After all, it makes sense that Voldemort would look increasingly shabby as the seven pieces of his soul were picked off by the Golden Trio. It especially adds up when you consider how much of a toll even just creating his Horcruxes took on him — and now we’re talking about destroying them (and eventually him).
