Four things we desperately want to see in Stranger Things season 4

The Byers family returns to Hawkins

At the end of season 3, the Byers family (with Eleven in tow) say farewell to Hawkins, Indiana, heading off to…actually, we don’t know exactly where they’re going. Joyce wanted to leave, and after everything she and her family had been through, who could blame her? There’s a mention of visiting at Christmas time (will season 4 take place in the winter after season 3 took place in the summer?), which suggests they’re moving pretty far away.

The Duffers have mentioned that season 4 may move beyond Hawkins, and it feels like the right time for the story to open up like that. And it doesn’t just have to be wherever the Byers have moved to. We know the Russians have successfully opened a portal to the Upside Down in Siberia. Could the Stranger Things crew go on a globe-trotting adventure?

Still, after the characters venture out and do whatever they need to do, I have a feeling the Byers family will return to Hawkins, either because they’ve gained a newfound perspective on and appreciation of their hometown or because something draws them back. Or at least that’s what I’d like to see.
