Watch Katherine Langford’s deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame
By Ariba Bhuvad
Disney+ has officially launched, and with it, oh so many treats! One in particular will be of much interest to Avengers: Endgame fans. Back in May, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed on the HappySadConfused podcast that 13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford was cast and shot a scene for Endgame. But clearly, it didn’t make the theatrical cut of the movie.
With the launch of Disney+, we can now see Landford’s deleted scene in the “Extras” section under Avengers: Endgame. Below, you can watch it unaltered, and then with commentary from the Russos.
Langford was brought on to play the teenage version of Tony Stark’s daughter, Morgan. The deleted scene takes place directly after Iron Man snapped the snap that destroyed Thanos’ army and saved the world. In the deleted scene, the Soul Stone takes Tony to the Waystation, the strange in-between realm where Thanos saw a young Gamora after his own fateful snap.
A frazzled, emotional Tony Stark finds reassurance in meeting his teenage daughter, who tells him she got to live her life because of what he did. Naturally, he doubts himself, but Morgan is there to tell him that she’s proud of him and that he did the right thing. It’s an emotional scene, but because we never got to see this version of Morgan, it’s kind of hard to connect to it, which is part of the reason the Russos took it out. Also, as the brothers say, it would have thrown off the momentum of the ending.
That said, I definitely got teary-eyed when Tony said, “I love you 3000.”
